Who Invented Facebook: When you meet a person you like or just make new friends, it has become quite normal to ask for their Facebook contacts. Millions of people in the world use this social networking site. Facebook, in fact, is regarded as the most popular social networking site. Therefore, we have to say thanks for this invention to the creator of it, which by many is considered to be Mark Zuckerberg, although some other people contributed to making Facebook possible, which include Chris Hughes, Andrew McCollum, Eduardo Saverin and Dustin Moskovitz.

The question of who invented Facebook was asked years after its actual creation when the website became immensely popular and as a result of it, even a film was made based on it.

Giving some general information, Facebook is an online social networking service with its headquarters in Menlo Park, California, United States. Facebook started functioning in 2004 when Mark Zuckerberg and his other mentioned roommates and students from Harvard College launched its first version. It is also known that in the beginning, only Harvard College students could register to the website.

Later, the creators of it decided to allow other students to join it, such as from Stanford University and the Ivy League schools. Soon, not only university students but also high school students could create their profiles on Facebook. Starting in 2006, the Facebook website became available for all people older than 13 years old.

The creators of the website decided to call it Facebook, which refers to the face book directories which are given to students attending United States universities. When you register on Facebook, you can create your individual profile, add other people to your friend list, post photos, videos and status updates, as well as send free messages, make video calls, play games and use other applications. In addition to that, people can create groups, where they can add people from their workplace or schools. Also, in order to find each person more easily in their friend list, people can create friend categories, such as ‘Close Friends’ or ‘Friends from Work’. In the last years, more and more people register to Facebook and submit so much data that Facebook is required to update its privacy policies more often.
